Reading & Writing Integrated Unit

In reading students continue to work on agency and independence as they put to work all the strategies they have been learning as the level of nonfiction reading becomes more complex. Students are re-reading difficult pieces to look for author perspective and working on quality annotations.

Students will continue researching the topic they've chosen. Mrs. Fitzgerald will be doing another lesson in the classes about creating a bibliography and how to site sources. She is also available to help students find resources on their topic, they just need to ask!
Reminder: EBSCO's Primary Search database -- link on the library catalog's Visual Tab Current Events  page and the Home page.

This week students will complete a mini project involving rectangular prisms. They will have to create 5-7 prisms following a set of criteria. Students will use everything they know about volume and be able to show their understanding in this engaging, hands on math activity. We will spend time assessing our classmates' projects at the end of the week. We continue to differentiate in math and you may be hearing from your child about this. As always, we welcome any feedback you may have.

Mid-module: Our mid-module for unit 5 will be on Wednesday April 18

Social Studies
This week is social studies students will pick an area of the 8 technology content areas that they want to research even further. We will spend some time reviewing the Big 6 Research method and developing a thesis statement.

In circle solutions this week students continue to explore stress and worry and strategies on how to cope. We will explore the stresses directly related to them, such as test taking, and how to relieve some of that worry.
